When Wes and I started work on the documentary “UFOs and God” we had very little idea of what was going to happen to us much less what would transpire in the world during the ensuing four years it took for us to complete this project.

After some research, we went to a conference, SCU: Scientific Coalition of UAP Studies conference in Huntsville, AL. Rocket City...as it is affectionately known. It did not disappoint and was the first miraculous set of circumstances we would experience while making this film.

Because of delays in starting, we were not able to register early enough to secure two tickets. It was not a huge gathering but large enough to need tickets. Wes said we should go even if we were on a waiting list. We went ahead and registered for the online access in the live stream. We thought that maybe if we had to, we could be outside and hang out with participants on the patio during their breaks. So, we made arrangements to stay with family and went on faith.

When we got there on that first day, we arrived early. The founder, Rich Hoffman could not have been nicer to us when we asked if there was ANY chance that something had opened up. He looked at the registrations and noticed that TWO TICKETS had become available THAT MORNING! We donated a little money for an upgrade and we were in!

What an amazing gathering. This was before the first UFO Congressional testimony, but we met David Grusch (UAP Programs Whistleblower), David Fraver (Tic Tac encounter pilot), Gary Voorhis (Tic Tac encounter radar operator), Jeremy Corbell (media-maker/researcher), Travis Taylor (Skin Walker Ranch) and so many others. Via zoom, we heard from Alexander Wendt (Sociologist) and Ted Peters (Researcher and professor) as well. Research was also presented.

Not a book in sight. No t-shirts. No trinkets and goo-gahs...NO WOO-WOO. Just a room full of scientifically minded individuals all looking for answers about the UAP phenomenon. It was a good start for us as we ended up filming a few of those we met and were heard from during the conference. We had started to walk this different path for our documentary. As narrative filmmakers, Wes and I had no idea how much work it was going to be and how much our lives would change because of it. This was just the beginning.

So, why us?
