The Decision to Go Public

“What does the Lord want you to do?”
It had been nearly 2 years of traveling all over the place on 30 planes interviewing 27 different people. Theologians, scientists of all kinds, and experiencers. We had filmed sections of Wes’ on-camera dialogue and had finally come down to the moment where I was going to HAVE to make a final decision about whether or not I was going on camera and tell the account of my childhood experiences for the film.
I had known for a long time that I had the power to say “no.” I could have gotten down to the point where it was “now or never” and just decided “never.” I knew my testimony in the documentary could negatively impact my life on so many levels. Or, it could be the best thing I have ever done. It would give permission for others to talk about what happened to them from alien encounters. I felt like God was nudging me but was letting me make the decision on my own.
It was in the midst of not wanting to speak that I knew I had to do it because one of what our guests, Jason Dezember said, “I have to talk about it. I’m a living testimony!” That one phrase...got deep into my heart, and I remembered that we overcome by the Blood of the Lamb and the WORD OF OUR TESTIMONY. (Revelation 12:11) “What did God do FOR ME? Let me tell you!!”
So, over the next year and a half, I got in front of the camera several times and told the most dramatic of my alien abductions and made additional commentary on other subjects in the film. Wes and I realized that my personal testimony was the coat hanger that the clothes of the documentary would hang on. It was never the focus, but it was a unifying theme to propel the film and give it emotional depth.
It was ALWAYS emotional. It was ALWAYS hard for me to sit there and not cry through some of it. Some of those emotional moments were caught on camera but we both believe when people see that, maybe they will understand how profound these experiences are for those that have suffered through them.
But do people always suffer?
What about those that claim their alien encounter was wonderful! Peaceful! Loving! What do you say to them?
It was all a lie...
